We Will Rock You The Musical holds a very special place in my heart, mostly because more than anything else, it started my formal education of Queen. My parents weren't fans of the band and didn't listen to their music and my friends growing up were really only interested in Bohemian Rhapsody, due to it's feature in Wayne's World. I knew hits like We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions due to movies like The Mighty Ducks, but as a whole I knew very little about Queen and their back catalogue.
My husband on the other hand is and has always been a huge Queen fan, just like the rest of his family and many of their family stories feature Queen songs. Early on in our relationship, We Will Rock You was touring and so as a treat for my husband, we headed off to Dublin to see the show, thinking at the time it would be the closest we'd ever come to attending a Queen concert. We were there opening night, and though we were most definitely in the nosebleed seats and we could see very little there was no mistaking the curly haired mop on Brian May, as he performed in the encore of Bohemian Rhapsody. I can still remember the look on my husbands face that night when he realised that he was indeed seeing a member of Queen.
After that night my education commenced and my husband supplied me with Queen's greatest hits I, II and III and the Live At Wembley albums. There were also quite a number of documentaries watched and his passion soon become mine. When we got married, Queen featured as we left the ceremony and Queen singalongs are a family tradition every Christmas. Hell, the whole family went to the cinema just to see Bohemian Rhapsody, so is the love for this band.

This meant of course that when We Will Rock You returned to Dublin on tour, we had to be there and it certainly did not disappoint. We had much better seats this time which was a bonus but above all the magic of Queen never disappoints and there is something so cool about belting out their tunes with an audience full of people there for the exact same reason that we were, love of Queen and love of Freddie.
The show certainly hit me a bit more emotionally this time and I think I enjoyed it even more then the first time we saw it, because I had the full history behind me. If you're lucky enough to get a ticket for the show while it's in Dublin, do. You won't be disappointed! The cast is just incredible everyone one of them blowing the roof off the place. It truly is a show I'd see again and again if it was possible!
