Today I got the extra special treat of getting to chat with Oasis Personal Stylist Rosie Connolly when she visited Whitewater Shopping Centre and boy, did I get some really great style advice for the season ahead. Key Trends for Autumn/Winter 2013 · Winter Floral – this key trend is bringing together the cheerful spring florals we so loved into the winter by infusing them with a darker palette of navies, black and maroon · Shearling – this trend seems to return every year and thank goodness it does otherwise we’d all be freezing come next spring. This year a waterfall shearling cardigan or jacket will be your new best friend for looking super stylish while staying warm at the same time · Leather – Punk makes its return this winter and by far the easiest way to embrace the trend is with a well cut leather jacket and a splash of tartan. A tartan scarf over a black leather jacket will ward off any kill and allow you to dabble in a bit of punk glam without going over the top. · Gold Jewellery – Gold is king this winter and jewellery is heavy and chunky. Make sure you layer up on your jewellery for a real statement piece. Rosie’s Tips · Winter Best Buy – Leather Ankle boots in either black or tan will see you thru the season and can be worn with nearly any of the key Autumn/Winter Trends · Layering – To keep from looking like you’ve worn every piece in your closet trying to combat the cold, take a tip from Rosie and layer. Those lovely summer dresses can be paired with light knits, lace and dark tights for that perfect feminine look. · Mix your textures – Lace and leather, floral and leather, you name it you can pair it. This is the time to embrace both your feminine and masculine styles and let them complement each other. · Coats – Invest in a Staple Winter Coat – This will be one of the most important purchases of the season and you’ll be getting a lot of wear out of it. Look for Macs with leather cuffs and panelling, Belted Drape Coats, Parkas and Crombie jackets to stay stylish no matter what the weather throws at you. Hopefully Rosie will be able to visit us at Whitewater once again. Until then you can follow her on twitter (@rosieconnolly)
