My Favourite Marilyn Monroe Films

As many of you may know, today is the anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death. She was only 36 when she died and yet her power and stardom are as strong today as they were during her life. Below I've listed my four favourite MM films. If you haven't seen any of these I highly recommend all of them. Any films I missed that are your favourites?

DON"T BOTHER TO KNOCK This is Marilyn's first leading lady part and boy, did she pull out all the stops. Whenever someone tells me she was a horrible actress I point them in the direction of this film. Beautiful thriller, this will keep you on the edge of your seat and show you a completely different side to Ms. Monroe's dumb blonde persona.

THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL The first film Marilyn produced with her production company, The Prince and the Showgirl brought together two of Hollywood's biggest names. Marilyn is beautiful and serene in this film, making it one of my favourite romantic comedies. Plus the costumes are stunning. (If any of you live around the Newbridge Co. Kildare area and can get to the Newbridge Silverwear Museum you can see this beautiful coat in real life)

SOME LIKE IT HOT This was my very first introduction to Ms. Monroe and started a love affair that has continued since the darling age of 12. A wonderful innocent comedy I find myself going back to this film whenever I need a little pick me up.

THE MISFITS This is Marilyn's last completely finished film and another wonderful showcase of her true acting ability. Her portrayal of Roslyn is such an intimate inside into her own life and insecurities. Beautiful and heartbreaking all in one.
