Dream Job

This past summer I spent most of my time in that lovely abyss of unemployment. My days and weeks were full of posting CV's, filling out job applications and preparing and attending many interviews. One such interview was for one of my favourite makeup companies, Benefit Cosmetics. While I really enjoyed the 'audition' I was sadly unsuccessful but the area manager who interviewed me was extremely supportive. She had noticed on my CV that I was working freelance as a social media marketing and event assistant for music festival The Garden Sessions. While discussing this position she said my eyes just lit up and I just came alive. She asked if I'd ever thought of pursuing a full time career in that line of work. I admitted that the idea had never crossed my mind but I would be extremely interested now that I knew it was something available to me. She ever so kindly put me in touch with the Digital Media and Marketing Co-ordinator at Benefit who suggested I start a blog. Once I got the blog (this very one you are reading now) up and running she kindly looked over it for me and gave me some wonderful feedback. Well last week Benefit posted on Facebook that they were looking for a new Digital Media and Marketing Co-ordinator and I decided to the the plunge. I'm hoping that my passion for this area as well as drive towards perfection, my hard work on my blog and my love of writing and this company will show through and I can get an interview. Just the interview alone would be like Charlie finding the golden ticket in his Wonka Bar. Not only would this be an absolutely amazing opportunity but it would be one of my dream jobs. If it doesn't work out this time, it just allows me more time to gain the experience I need to become an even better candidate for the next time round. Fingers crossed everyone!
